Patrimoine Roses Luxembourg ASBL is proud of the publication of 'Rosa Rosa Rosam - Les roses pour les enfants / Rosen für Kinder', the first bilingual book to present the Luxembourg rose heritage to the young generation through a playful approach, while improving their language skills on the subject.
The creation of 'Rosa Rosa Rosam' was part of the 'LUGA - Luxembourg Urban Garden 2025', who financially supported the publication. 'LUGA2025' was dedicated to nature in the city, ecology and living gardens, and provided an ideal platform to highlight the association's commitment to a sustainable and vibrant rose heritage.
The 50-page, fully bilingual activity book in French and German is the result of months of work and was edited by the association with the active participation of children. 'Rosa Rosa Rosam' combines creative games, art, poems, stories, culinary recipes and crafts to introduce children to the world of roses. The book shows the beauty, history and symbolic richness of the rose in Luxembourg by taking readers on a lively, interactive and educational journey: from discovering old varieties to making paper roses, to a fantastic fairy tale or a cold soup with rose petals. 'Rosa Rosa Rosam' has a dual mission: spread knowledge about biodiversity while highlighting a deeply Luxembourg horticultural heritage.
Nicole Trossen, president of the association, explains: 'With this book we want to make children want to discover, learn and preserve a valuable rose heritage. This is the concern of Patrimoine Roses Luxembourg ASBL, which has been working for over ten years to revive this unique part of the country's horticultural and cultural history.'
Monette Weis-Scheider, member of the board of directors and designer of the book, adds: 'As a former teacher, I have always had at heart to transmit with sensitivity and creativity. We have designed a book that is both educational and fun, designed to capture the attention of children in their language and in their daily lives. This book reflects both my passion for education and my love of roses, as well as my desire to awaken the curiosity of the youngest.”
